About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Disability Facilities Grants Officer to join our team, delivering essential housing adaptations to Wakefield residents.
In this role, you will work directly with vulnerable adults, children, and their families in their homes to assess, plan, and deliver adaptations funded through the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG). Your work will enable people to live independently, safely, and with dignity in their own homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver housing adaptations in line with statutory duties and DFG legislation
- Work directly with service users, carers, and professionals to project manage and coordinate works
- Support vulnerable residents to remain at home, preventing hospital admissions and enabling timely discharges
- Ensure solutions are practical, cost-effective, and provide best value
- Manage risk effectively and ensure works are delivered in a safe, professional, and timely manner
- Contribute to the effective use of the council’s mandatory DFG budget
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with vulnerable adults, children, or housing adaptations
- Keen to learn and committed to self development
- Understands (or is willing to learn) Disabled Facilities Grant legislation and related statutory duties
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Can work independently while managing a varied caseload
- Is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred services
- Is passionate about improving people’s independence and quality of life
