Director of Finance (Section 151 Officer)
Salary: Competitive
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Contract: Permanent, full time
The strategic voice of finance at the heart of Dudley.
As the Council’s statutory Section 151 Officer and a member of the Corporate Management Team, you will be Dudley’s principal financial adviser providing clear, trusted guidance to the Chief Executive, elected members and senior colleagues.
Your role is to shape and deliver a sustainable long-term financial strategy that is firmly aligned to the Council’s corporate priorities, while upholding the highest standards of governance, probity and financial stewardship.
Beyond strategy, you will lead key enabling services and position finance as a genuine business partner across the organisation. You will bring visible, credible leadership in a complex and politically sensitive environment, operating confidently at the political interface and building the financial resilience the Council needs to thrive.
You will join a developing senior leadership team united by shared purpose and a commitment to collaboration, working closely with elected members, the Chief Executive and partners to embed a true One Council approach. This means bringing together strong governance, clear priorities and the intelligent use of data, technology and resources. We are looking for exceptional, values-led leaders with the professional credibility and judgement to operate confidently in a complex and evolving environment; people who can build strong relationships, develop high-performing teams and translate financial strategy into real impact for our communities.
If you are motivated by public service, energised by transformation and ready to make a lasting contribution to Dudley’s future, we would be delighted to hear from you.
